Preface
There's a lot to learn about Septima, but the most important part are your characters. We love to see people breath life into their character, new and old, and this page will help you answer questions about your characters that are lore specific.
We are quite open to whatever story or plot that you might devise for your characters, and will even allow you to create locales and npcs for your own purposes. The rule will always generally be that whatever you create cannot impede on official Septima lore, or somehow try to involve itself into the history of Septima without permission.
The Islands are a wide and varied place, so canonically, there are many areas possibly unexplored that you can claim for yourself. But detailed areas such as the capital of Altons-by-the-Riversmeet, or the four Roravi cities, should not be dramatically changed to suit your characters. Everyone's timelines should be shared for continuity.
Some examples:
1. John Doe is the son of an influential merchant from Alton, making him nearly rich enough to be a young lord. Recently, he's been interested in learning the Artesan crafts. (In this scenario, you can have full freedom to design his parents, exactly how influential he is in the city, where he's about to learn skills from. You can make up your own names, npcs, and small locales. This is fine!)
2. John Doe is the King of Alton and has just declared war on the Salamander Roravi. He will be learning Proxima skills personally from the best fighter on the islands to hone his skills. (In this scenario, the character has assumed a major locale as his own and made a major political move that would have never happened canonically. Unfortunately, this would have to be moderated.)
Basically, don't godmod. Give them flaws, strengths, weaknesses, facets about themselves, and not the world around them.
