A brief overview of Septima
Crown of Septima is an invite-only art roleplay group with gameplay mechanics. What does that all mean?
Firstly, to join, you must have a personal invite from an existing and active member before you can start your application. This is to cut down on the number of applicants and ensure a high level of mature, quality players among our population. The preferred art level is intermediate to advanced, but we love helping and teaching eager and mature young players as well! From time to time we may open the group without invitation, but that will be announced beforehand as a special situation or event. The player inviting you must go through special steps to invite you. The player inviting you also assumes partial responsibility for your behaviour, so please do not jeopardize their invite privileges! In-depth invitation information is in our FAQs.
Secondly, Septima relies heavily on players (you!) being active in two places--DeviantArt to upload your art and literature, and our Discord server for item tracking and gameplay. Normally, the Discord is optional in other ARPGs, but for us, it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED you join it. The shop and more than half of the group's gameplay relies on our server and bot to record and notify us of when you use items and spend money, and without it, you won't be able to progress your character past a certain point. If you are uncomfortable with joining Discord, or you don't want to chat with other people, that's fine, we won't force you to talk! But even just making an account will allow us to give you the maximum rewards from group events. Discord is free and can be accessed from your browser without a download. Read more about our Discord integrations here!
Once you are invited and a member of the group, you may begin to make your character!

new character creation steps
Pst... Now's a good time to look over our Full Rules and FAQs!
Step 1: Learn the differences between the 3 character creation types and decide which yours will be.
Crown of Septima is a multi-verse, open OC world where virtually any original character or species is allowed to join in on the ARPG aspects of the group. Whether you created the character yourself, or purchased a design to use, or bought one of the closed species specific to CoS, we welcome everyone’s characters to interact and work together to progress. As a new member, you are allowed 3 characters of any type to start, and then more character spots to purchase with our in-game currency, Silvers!

Group Owned SpeciesThis character type is unique because they are exclusively species created for use in Septima!
These species are natives to the Island Crown of Septima, and are deeply intertwined with the lore of the group. So far, there are two species in the group: The Roravi, clans of fairy-like people, and; The Nyaga, small cat-snake creatures that are upgradable! To create a Roravi character, you must purchase a premade design as it is a closed species. Read more about the Roravi! Nyaga are free to create! They start as basic looking characters, and as you accumulate Reputation and complete prompts, you can change its appearance and watch it evolve! They’re easy to draw and perfect for starting out in the group with. Read more about the Nyaga! Species Restrictions:

Septima Native RacesThis character type contains the people of various races that live and thrive on the islands of Septima.
This type is for people that want to create a character that is natively born in Septima and has a backstory based in Septima lore. There are many races in Septima, the main population of which are regular humans. The humans in this world are living in an approximate 18th Century Earth, where they straddle the line between old medieval customs and new, industrialized times. Large cities will have newer and better technology, and small hamlets will look reminiscent of an aged, analog village. Read more about the lore of the islands if you’re interested in this type! Currently, all members are allowed to create characters of these races:

Step 2: Set up the associated template for your character's type!
Because every character has their own progression, every character needs their own tracker.
Your character's tracker is the deviation that you are uploading this template to. This deviation and its URL is VERY important, so please keep it on hand! Once your character is approved and shows up in our gallery, you do not need to do anything extra to start participating (other than learn how to format your submissions and skills).
Feel free to draw your character however you like. This tracker will act as your character's reference sheet and game info sheet. You may draw game equipment under the equipped section, or your own unique ones. The Goals and Boon/Banes (strengths and weaknesses) section are for you to fill out freely, open to interpretation for in-character writing.
In the artist's description of your deviation, please fill out the appropriate form (you can copy and paste from here, or the template's visual guide). Remove the text and brackets, and fill out the form accordingly. Click the templates below to go to the deviation for the full size download.

Please do not omit anything from the above forms! If you're not sure what goes in certain sections, you can ask during your comment in the approval journals or leave it blank—A mod will help you out. You CAN style the form however you'd like, as long as all the information is present. You may also format a public Google Spreadsheet for EXP tracking and skills if it is easier for you, as long as mods can view it.
Quick Explanations
ID Number (ID No.): For every character made, regardless of type, an ID number will be issued and they will be added to our public masterlist spreadsheet, where you can view their listing and your slots. This number is meant to be unique to your character as an identifier in Discord. Please edit your character's tracker with the number and link once you get it!
Age: For a character to be able to undertake quests at the guild, they must be at least 16 years of age to begin (We don't want any depictions of minors doing dangerous things in our group). If you would like to create a younger, child character, you are free to make a side NPC freely, without the use of slots or registration. (Side note: Roravi or Nyaga NPCs must be plain, side characters, as they are closed and semi-closed species. They cannot have any traits above common and must be clearly labelled as an NPC.)
Affiliation: Septima's a big place! Or perhaps in the future, your character will form an alliance or guild with another player's characters. Why don't you find characters in the same starting city and meet some new friends?
Summoner: Summoned characters don't just appear, you know? Someone must have called them to Septima... Wonder who? Was it the Goddess, Shiramine? Or perhaps someone else's character is dabbling in some crazy magic? Or maybe your character has no clue, and wants to find out. Open to interpretation!
Active Skills: Are you confused as heck? Even after reading the Potential System page? Feel free to ask questions in our group comments, or hop onto our Discord--our #support channel is open to everyone.

Step 3: Submit your character to the Adventurer Registry folder in the group.
If this is your first character, please ensure you have been INVITED and ACCEPTED into the group first! You will not be able to submit to the folder if you aren't. There is a confirmation process you must do. Please read the rules to find it! |
Now that your deviation of your character's information is all set up and beautiful, it's time to wiggle on over to the group's gallery, to the Adventurer Registry folder. There are several sub-steps to follow:
|
About your character's tracker
Never, under ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, should you delete your character's tracker! If you delete your character's tracker, we will assume you do not want your character anymore, and ALL OF THEIR INFORMATION will be lost! We do not keep records of their exp and items. All we do is link your deviation to our masterlist account for records. When you submit your character to the folder, your Notifications will show your pending submission. You can click the link under the Withdraw button for your submission comments. The mod will message you there. If you lose the link to your character's tracker submission comments, please ask on the group's comments or note the group for the link again. |
What's your mod doing when they're approving characters? What's the point of the masterlist?
Good questions, curious citizen!
Your mod will be taking your character's tracker and adding them to your slots and masterlist spreadsheet, located here! This spreadsheet keeps track of everyone's slots and characters, as well as keeps track of the population of characters here at Septima with a unique ID. This helps us keep organized for future events.
